Don't put off til Tomorrow

This past week saw some pretty notable passing's. TV Host Grant Imahara from Mythbusters died at 49 from a brain aneurysm. Naya Rivera died from a drowning accident. John Travolta's wife Kelly Preston died of breast cancer.

All of these people were relatively young when the average life span is in the high 70's. Usually it is those senior citizens we see at church who are nearing their run on planet Earth. These lucky survivors seem to be coming back to God at a time when they may be seeing Him soon.

Our lives here on Terra Forma are filled with many tasks and activities. We are busy keeping up with the Jones's, trying to stay healthy, raising a family and doing our part to give back to the human race. The God equation just does not find a place in most people's lives today. He is relegated to a mythical figure that only gets attention when bad things happen, unfortunate.

But we are taught in the pages of Scripture to put Him first and all else will fall into place.

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Matthew 6

Also we need to be concerned about today and not tomorrow. We need to do our part for our fellow man today and let tomorrow worry about itself. God is in control and knows what the future holds for us. We must leave it in His capable hands. After all we are just vapor that vanishes away. The memories of these three above will just vanish away over time.

Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”; 14 whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. James 4

Yesterday is a cancelled check, tomorrow is a promissory note, today is all we have and that is why it is called the Present! It is a gift from God. We need to be grateful for what He has blessed us with and ask for His guidance on all things human. Only then will He direct our paths to the destination He has laid out for us to attain. We need to lift one another up instead of tearing each other down. This is the instruction from the Lord.

exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. 14 For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end, 15 while it is said:

“Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.” Hebrews 13

We have rebelled long enough. It is time for us to come under the umbrella of His saving grace and to follow Him rather than our own selfish desires. Only then will we understand the true purpose of our lives and embrace that which He laid out from the beginning of the world.

Don't put this off until tomorrow. As the stories of Grant, Naya and Kelly have shown, there may not be a tomorrow for us. We only have Today! Make it the best you can and start it off with a prayer of thanksgiving to the One who made it all possible.

And that is the Whole Truth!

May God truly bless you in your walk with Him.

And remember, God always answers His kneemail.
