These days there is little that is free. Money makes the world go round and if someone offers something for free, be on the lookout for the sales pitch to come soon after.
God created the Earth and the stars as it is written in Genesis. He also made two great lights, one to serve the day and the other the night. The light to serve the day is the Sun. To bask in its glow is to provide light and heat for a dark and cold planet. This light and heat is free and no money is necessary to enjoy its benefits. Being in the Sun is also supposed to be very healthy for our frail human bodies as it promotes the production of vitamin D which is essential to our health. All Free..
The Sun makes crops grow, brings the animals out to do their part for the environment and is also used to create energy with solar panels. All free to you and me.
There was another light that was introduced to this world 2,000 years ago. This man walked the earth and provided teaching that the scholars of the day were fascinated by. His ability to heal and provide food were unprecedented and we still revere Him to this day in churches and religious gatherings.
God provided the Sun for mankind and He also provided the Son for us. Just like the heat and light from that big ball of fire 93 million miles away, Jesus provides light and warmth to a cold, dark soul. His words and teachings lift our countenance and just like the Sun are good for our minds and bodies.
And guess what, it is free as well. God's gift of the Sun is free and His gift of eternal life is free too through His Son. There is no amount of money in the world that can buy eternal life. It is free to anyone who wants it and is willing to admit that Jesus was the Son of God and has come into this world to save it from itself and redeem it for the Father.
The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, And upon those who sat in the region and shadow of death Light has dawned.” Matthew 4:16
What a wonderful depiction of Gods love for mankind and comparison to help us understand. We are the benefactors of God's light on the world and it does not cost a penny. Just bask in it and absorb its heat and love for us free of charge.
Next time you go outside and feel the warmth of the Sun, send up a little thanks to One who made it possible and provided another Son to insure we could enjoy it for eternity.
