The Bible warns us through the words of Jesus as He was wrapping up His ministry with the disciples.
These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer,I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
Today marks the anniversary of the attacks on New York and Washington DC. Nineteen years ago, terrorists commandeered four planes and flew them into the twin towers in New York and the Pentagon in Washington. One of them thankfully was overtaken but sadly plummeted into a field in Pennsylvania.
We honor the 2,977 that perished this day due to the evil that still exists in our world. Jesus told us it would be this way. Since 9/11 of 2001, we have not been without trouble. Wars and rumors of wars still filled our news broadcasts and disease and pandemics still dominate our news cycle today.
An actual Bible was found at the Twin towers open to the page with this scripture.
“You have heard that it was said,‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy. But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you,do good to those who hate you, Matthew 5:43
These are difficult words to hear after losing your loved one to terrorists from the Middle East. We did not heed these words and another 4,400 died due to our efforts trying to inflict retaliation on these countries who inflicted this on us.
It is hard for me to understand how people cannot accept the scriptures as supernatural writings as it is always right when it comes to prophecy. If you want to know the future of mankind, read the New Testament. It is all there in black and white.
The Good news of all of this is that Jesus experienced His own form of trouble and tribulation and overcame it all to be a living sacrifice so that we too might rise from our own tombs and join Him in eternal life. His Resurrection was the ultimate victory over evil and death and foreshadowed our own. Be of good cheer He said, I have overcome the world. Amen!
As we look back on 9/11, let this passage reverberate through our minds today and let us try to be of good cheer. We have an Advocate who sits at the right hand of God speaking for us to bless us and protect us. Eventually, most of us will go to the grave, but in the twinkling of am eye we will be changed and will be like Him, living with Him forever.
And that is the Whole Truth!
May God truly bless you in your walk with Him.
And remember, God always answers His kneemail.
