Passengers

This past week we saw the return of the two astronauts Dog Hurley and Bob Behnken who lifted off on a SpaceX rocket two months ago to the International Space Station. They returned with much fanfare and accommodation. They really did not do much except sit in a capsule and ride it to the ISS.

Basically, they were passengers while a whole host of people made sure the rocket and capsule they were on successfully made it to its destination. They really did not DO anything.

The same could be said of us. We live on a spaceship called Earth that hangs suspended in space. I guess you could say we are on one of the largest spaceships in the solar system. Like the ISS, we are basically a satellite to the Sun.

We are passengers for a period of time on earth and we do experiments, marvel at our surroundings, perform space walks, interact with other crew mates and float about many times with no control. Like the Endeavor capsule, we are not doing much but there is a whole Host of beings seeing to our survival. Like Mission Control, God and His angels are working behind the scenes caring for us and whispering in our ears all the time.

“There is no one like the God of Jeshurun, Who rides the heavens to help you, And in His excellency on the clouds. Deuteronomy 33:26

If we tune into the right frequency, the Holy Spirit will guide us in the way we must go to achieve the best results. Like Bob and Doug, we are only on this mission for so long. Eventually, we too will splashdown and our ride will be over.

God is in control. He sent His Son to spend some time on Spaceship Earth to instruct the crew personally and give them direction on how best to successfully complete the mission. His mission was to sacrifice Himself so that our ride on Earth would never end. That we might even be able to venture out among the stars and truly become astronauts like Bob and Doug. Wouldn't it be cool to actually travel to Saturn and see its rings with our own eyes?

This is one promise NASA cannot make and it won't cost us an arm and a leg to fly above the atmosphere to see the curvature of the Earth. The cost has already been paid for us to ride for free. We just need to accept it to get on board. Ticket please!

Enjoy your ride on Spaceship Earth, spread His message to all you can, and live knowing He has something MUCH better planned for us to behold. As Marshall Mcluhan stated, we are not really passengers on Spaceship Earth, we are crew. Let's care for each other and treat the spaceship with respect. It is, thankfully, all we have.

And that is the Whole Truth!

May God truly bless you in your walk with Him.

And remember, God always answers His kneemail.

Since I have your attention now, please take a moment and say a special prayer for the residents of Beirut who are dealing with loss of life and destruction of their city. It is a terrible disaster. Thank You. Amen
