The Joy of I.I.F.

One of the greatest feelings in life is the accomplishment of a big project or achieving a big goal. All around our country, young adults are celebrating the accomplishment of completing Jr High school, High school and college. These are major milestones in a persons life and it is unfortunate this year with the restrictions placed on large gatherings that these achievements can't be more lavish than in previous years.

However that certificate or shingle is delivered to these deserving graduates, they will finally be able to say "It is Finished". The joy of being able to look back on all of the hard work to meet this goal is sometimes overwhelming.

Almost 2,000 years ago, our Creator was able to mutter the same thing. It was even around this time of year that it happened interestingly enough. His life on Earth was coming to an end and He had sacrificed the most important thing in His dying on the cross. Scripture had accurately detailed all that would occur up to this point. There was only one thing left to fulfill.

In Psalms, David said this of the Lord

and for my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.

Psalm 69:21

So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit. John 19:30

Upon receiving the sour wine, Jesus was able to finally decry "it is Finished". With that He gave up His spirit and for the first time in history, the world was without the Creator. Jesus was laid in the tomb and as we all know three days later he arose to fulfill more prophecy.

Every year at springtime we celebrate this day as we do the accomplishments of our children who have accomplished their goals and aspirations. We celebrate with joy as they move on to new possibilities and we celebrate spiritually knowing that death has been defeated. We honor Him who gave His life so that we may live eternally with Him.

There is still one thing left to occur that we are all still waiting to celebrate.

Jesus said "Then they will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds with great power and glory." Mark 13

Jesus prophesied that He will return for us. He fulfilled all of the other prophecies laid out in the Old Testament, why not this one as well? When we finally see that bright light in the sky that just keeps getting brighter, we will all be able to say "It is Finished" and we will be caught up with Him and will once again be reunited with our long lost friends and family to forever reign with Him.

What a glorious day that will be that our joy will be fulfilled!

May God bless those who are graduating from one chapter of their lives into another and may we all look forward with hope to that day when we can all exclaim IT IS FINISHED!

And that is the Whole Truth!

May God truly bless you in your walk with Him.

And remember, God always answers His kneemail.
