The Mask

Seems everyone these days is wearing a mask due to the virus. Health officials have encouraged everyone to wear one to stop the spread. I am surprised there are not more robberies since banks are short staffed and everyone is wearing masks.

The reality though is that all of us wear masks every day even when there is no virus. We mask our true feelings, inadequacies and tempers to others. Psychologists will say that these tendencies are not healthy and that a life free of hidden struggles is a more healthy one. This is why people engage in "tension relieving" activities to relieve stress and anxiety.

We have all adorned masks to fit in to this society. We are coerced to follow the norm our cultures have created for us to follow. Women wear a mask of makeup to adhere to the fashion norm and be accepted. Men wear a mask of bravery and confidence to hide the scared child within. We are all wearing masks of one form or another. In the end all of these masks will be removed.

For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known. Therefore whatever you have spoken in the dark will be heard in the light, Luke 12

Revelation was written to reveal to us the truth and unmask the enemy who has been deceiving the world since the beginning. We have been under his influence and have acquiesced over to his will to remain part of the tribe and not be shunned. No one wants to be left alone in the cold.

Jesus reminds us we need not worry about being left alone. In Hebrews 13, He reminds us - "Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Covetousness is at the heart of wearing the mask. In order to conform to society and fit in, we mask our true identity and hide our true nature. Our true nature as children of the Most High. Children that do not deal falsely with others. Children that do not trample over others to get what they want and children that are willing to lay down their lives for others.

Eventually the coronavirus mask will not be necessary anymore. When that day comes, I ask you to remove the other mask as well. That mask is not as easily removed but when done will give you true freedom. There may be persecution and exclusion along the way but we must keep our eyes fixated on the prize and run the race anyway. The finish line is glorious!!

The world has forced us into wearing masks. Always remember though, Jesus made you who you really are and loves you more so without the mask. That is the person He created.

And that is the Whole Truth!

Have a wonderful rest of the week and may God bless you in your ongoing walk with Him.

And remember,

God always answers His kneemail.
